Comparing Powers and Symbolic Powers of Ideals

We develop tools to study the problem of containment of symbolic powers I(m) in powers I for a homogeneous ideal I in a polynomial ring k[P ] in N + 1 variables over an arbitrary algebraically closed field k. We obtain results on the structure of the set of pairs (r, m) such that I(m) ⊆ I. As corollaries, we show that I2 contains I(3) whenever S is a finite generic set of points in P2 (thereby ...

A note on lattices of z-ideals of f-rings

The lattice of z-ideals of the ring C(X) of real-valued continuous functions on a completely regular Hausdorff space X has been shown by Mart́ınez and Zenk to be a complete Heyting algebra with certain properties. We show that these properties are due only to the fact that C(X) is an f -ring with bounded inversion. This we do by studying lattices of algebraic z-ideals of abstract f -rings with b...

Pseudoprime L-Ideals in a Class of F-Rings

In a commutative f-ring, an 1-ideal I is called pseudoprime if ab = 0 implies a E I or b E I, and is called square dominated if for every a E I, lal < x2 for some x E A such that x2 E I. Several characterizations of pseudoprime 1-ideals are given in the class of commutative semiprime frings in which minimal prime 1-ideals are square dominated. It is shown that the hypothesis imposed on the f-ri...

Generalized f-clean rings

In this paper, we introduce the new notion of n-f-clean rings as a generalization of f-clean rings. Next, we investigate some properties of such rings. We prove that $M_n(R)$ is n-f-clean for any n-f-clean ring R. We also, get a condition under which the denitions of n-cleanness and n-f-cleanness are equivalent.

Generalized Test Ideals and Symbolic Powers

In [HH7], developing arguments in [HH5], Hochster and Huneke used classical tight closure techniques to prove a fine behavior of symbolic powers of ideals in regular rings. In this paper, we use generalized test ideals, which are a characteristic p analogue of multiplier ideals, to give a generalization of Hochster-Huneke's results.
